Women’s Self Help Group
Forest honey and bamboo from the buffer zone
Their story
Collection is done by members who have harvested honey in these forests for decades, using smoke and no fire, and leaving the brood comb behind so the colony survives the season.
Every batch is strained cold, never heated, and labelled with the collection date and the forest range. That single detail — a date — is what convinced their first online buyer.
Bamboo harvested during the thinning cycle is split and woven into trays and planters in the dry season, giving the group a second income when honey is out of season.
“We heat nothing. If you heat it, it is not honey anymore, it is syrup.”
Before this group’s first listing went up, we visited Darbha, met the members and read the papers behind each line below. The group keeps its own registration and its own bank account.

Food from Van Durga Samuh is packed under this licence at the group’s own unit in Darbha — not at our end. The batch date and the address printed on the pack are the group’s, which is how you can trace a jar back to the kitchen it came from.

Start with something small and see how it arrives. It was made and packed in Darbha by Van Durga Samuh, and the money goes to the group’s own account — not to ours.
